Will Utrecht be a city teeming with foreigners during Easter? Will it be busy in the museums? Or will things not go so well this year, now that Easter comes early and the weather doesn’t bode well? It is not yet possible for the tourist office in Utrecht to answer these questions, as the Utrechtsch Nieuwsblad reported on Saturday, March 28, 1964.

Nevertheless, the tourist office is prepared to cope with large crowds. The office is open from 8:30 am to midnight. The city has approximately sixty private addresses available. If necessary, one can contact the forty emergency addresses in the province.
VVV Utrecht expects that it will be about as busy this year as last year. Foreign visitors will mainly come from Germany, France and Belgium.
In any case, the Utrecht hotels appear to be having a busy Easter weekend, because a lot of reservations have been made up to and including Easter Sunday. A survey of the five major Utrecht hotels, with a total bed capacity of 400, showed that they are fully booked until Easter Monday.
Reservations are still possible for Easter Monday, but hotel circles say that it will be full anyway. It is remarkable that Utrecht will have fewer Germans this year. A travel agency reserved places in almost all hotels in Utrecht until Easter Sunday, but this appears to be largely the case for English people.
