This means that travel to the country is possible, but travelers must be extra alert. Belgium also advises fellow countrymen in France to be “very vigilant”, the FPS Foreign Affairs confirms.
France raised its national threat level to the highest level last Sunday. This means that the terrorist threat is assessed as “probable”. The reason was the terrorist attack on a concert hall near Moscow, in which at least 139 people were killed.
According to the French government, the increased risks mainly apply in larger cities. By switching to the highest threat level, more security measures can be taken to protect citizens, it said.

As a result of the increased level of terror, the Netherlands has adjusted the travel advice for France from green to yellow. Our country also advises Belgians in France to be “very vigilant”. “Belgians on site should avoid large gatherings and places with a large number of people and follow the guidelines of the local authorities,” it says on the website of the FPS Foreign Affairs.
“The travel advice was last changed on March 25, a day after France increased the terror level,” spokesperson Wouter Poels confirms. “We responded immediately to the changing facts in the country and we continue to monitor the situation. If there is an evolution, we will adjust the advice again,” he says.
