A fire broke out in the ceiling of the restaurant in the Evoluon on Noord-Brabantlaan in Eindhoven on Monday afternoon around half past two. The fire was under control shortly afterwards. No one was injured.

The building was evacuated immediately after the fire alarm went off. At that moment there were seventy people present in the Evoluon. According to Johan Gielen, a volunteer at the Evoluon, the evacuation went smoothly. “The roof of the restaurant caught fire due to an electrical fault. The fire brigade arrived very quickly. Because of the fire, the people who came outside smelled of smoke,” says Johan.

“We were on the fourth floor and my wife was in the time machine, wearing a full suit of armor. She had to leave immediately with all her armor,” says one of the visitors. René Montebam from Lekkerkerk had also imagined the family outing on Easter Monday differently. “We had just come out of the restaurant when the fire alarm went off and had to go outside immediately. I think there were about a hundred people inside, and they all quietly went here to the parking lot. Other than that I didn’t see any smoke development or anything. I hope we can We can still go inside because it is a nice museum and we drove a long way for this.”

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire brigade was present with several vehicles.
