With this project, the province wants to find suitable housing for everyone in Gelderland. Many elderly people in a single-family home (within social housing) do not move because they see obstacles. While 1 move leads to several other moves (a moving chain). The Province of Gelderland encourages and supports municipalities and housing associations. For example, through the use of moving coaches from the province.

Focus regions take over control

The project started in 8 focus regions. The province’s relocation coaches conducted more than 1,700 senior interviews. There were 730 removals for which a moving allowance was given from the province. Now it is time for a new phase. In 2024, municipalities and corporations in the focus regions: Ede, Nijmegen and Noord-Veluwe, will deploy their own moving coaches. With extra attention to flow. The focus regions: Arnhem, Apeldoorn, Zutphen/Brummen, Heumen/Berg & Dal, Epe/Heerde/Hattem will follow in the course of 2025. We will enter into discussions with other regions in Gelderland to find out whether they want support.

Working together on flow

Together with municipalities and housing associations, we look for solutions for mobility in the housing market. We are committed to helping starters, families and seniors.

A sounding board group meets three times a year to share knowledge and discover what really works for good flow. This group, which was established by the province, consists of approximately 40 employees from municipalities, corporations, welfare organizations and the province. The agenda includes topics such as the distribution of housing in Gelderland, the future, priority for traffic flow and research into moving dates.
