Regrettably! The Middelburg store of Fish and Meat Trader G&B in Yerseke, located above the escalator of the Tref Middelburg shopping center, will close. The business will be open for the last time this Friday, after which the doors will remain closed.
We initially heard it through the grapevine. Yesterday we did not immediately get hold of anyone, but today the news was confirmed by co-owner Remko, who obviously finds it very unfortunate that he and his partners had to make this decision. “There was simply not enough growth,” he explained this morning. “Then at some point you have to draw your conclusions.”
The ‘Meat and Seafood Market’ opened in December 2022, just before the holidays that year. A year and a half later, the curtain unfortunately falls. Remko announced that the store in Yerseke will remain open as usual. One of the employees in Middelburg will work there, another already has a new job at HEMA. Remko himself doesn’t know exactly what he is going to do yet. “Let’s settle this first.”
The store’s stocks are moving to Yerseke, but the furniture remains. If anyone is interested in a counter, or a cash register for example, just walk in. The building itself will be available for rental again.
We wish the team (and the company) every success for the future. Too bad it didn’t work out in Tref.
