Bicycle helmet campaign success: 1,600 helmets sold in 2 weeks in the province

The campaign to purchase an approved bicycle helmet – with a 25 euro discount – in the province of Groningen has been a great success. This campaign started on Wednesday, April 10 – national Bicycle Helmet Day – and has now ended. 1,600 bicycle helmets could be purchased. That happened within 2 weeks. There is no longer a budget available for this year, reports the organizer of this campaign.

The action was an initiative of the province of Groningen and Verkeerswijzer Groningen.

Head and brain injuries

The aim is to encourage the wearing of a bicycle helmet and thus prevent head and brain injuries after an accident. In the spring of 2025 there will be another discount promotion for the purchase of bicycle helmets.

Verkeerswijzer Groningen is an initiative of the joint authorities in the province of Groningen. Under this name they organize road safety campaigns and educational activities to further reduce the number of road casualties.
