From June 4, all PC players will be required to link their Steam account to a PlayStation Network account Hell divers 2 to be able to play. Until recently this was optional.
Sony Interactive Entertainment, the publisher of Hell divers 2, reports in a blog post on Steam that new players will be required to link their accounts from May 6. Existing users must link their accounts before June 4. Sony says it is taking these steps to ensure player safety.
For some players, the mandatory link to a PSN account may cause problems. A PlayStation Network account is not officially available in a number of countries. This concerns, for example, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and all African countries except South Africa. Although users can use a VPN to create an account, they risk getting banned. The game therefore appears to soon become unplayable for players from unsupported countries.
Since the announcement, several players have expressed their dissatisfaction about the mandatory link to a PSN account. Hell divers 2 is overloaded with negative reviews on the Steam page. The game now has over 170,000 negative reviews, many of which came in the last few days.
