MIDDELBURG – On May 5 we celebrate our freedom. Also the freedom to delve into the books. There is a large book market on the Middelburgse Markt, where you might find that one book you have been looking for for so long. The art route is linked to a special book program at 10 addresses in the city center and one just outside.
There are exhibitions about special books (often handmade to books in small editions) and prints in various printing techniques (etchings, linocuts, lithographs and risoprints) and there is a lecture in the morning about Vivaldi and Venice based on a new book by André Roman. There are also ‘scenes at the front door (and behind it)’, because the art route will read aloud again this year. Short stories and poems, and who knows, you might come up with a limerick yourself with Petra Bouman. So come and watch and listen and be inspired. Discover what’s going on behind all those front doors.

NB: Not all participants in the art route participate in the book program. But you will of course also receive a hospitable welcome at those addresses.
