“The season seems to be over if you look at the rankings,” Slot said at ESPN. “What do you show a few days after the cup final? Well, I was very satisfied with that. We dominated for ninety minutes and played maturely towards victory in the second half.”
Slot saw his team struggle to gain further distance in the second half. “What we have seen before is that we need many opportunities in the second half to distance ourselves from the opponent. That did not break us today, but there have been games in which that is the case. That is why we are 9 points behind PSV.”
The Feyenoord coach indicated before the match that he would like to become Liverpool’s coach. “I make no secret of that,” he said about the rumors and afterwards he came back to it. “I had a great time at Feyenoord and if Liverpool signs up, it would be crazy if it wasn’t a great next step. We will first respectfully wait until the clubs have an agreement. I have every confidence that that will happen, because I think they just kind of let me have that.”
