The Mars bar that you bought in a store in Shanghai may well have come to that Chinese city of millions via Leeuwarden. Wholesale Trigon Food does business all over the world. Now there is new construction.

Since 1999, Trigon Food has been trading in a wide range of foodstuffs and drinks. From Tuc cookies to Milka ice creams, Nutella and Prince biscuits. “We are passionate about every corner of the world,” says director Taeke van Lingen. “Fan Súd-Amearika oant Asia ta.”

The company is listed on stock exchanges in Singapore, Shanghai and Dubai. The trade in full containers often goes directly from the manufacturer to the final destination. However, it also happens that the customer orders a container or truck with different products from Trigon Food.

These are then loaded in Leeuwarden. This still happens in an old building on Edisonweg. Kimsma Bouw will build a new distribution center for Trigon Food at Newton Park.

For competitive reasons, Van Lingen does not want to say anything about the size of the new construction. “We keep it under the radar,” said the director. Twelve people currently work at Trigon (an old word for triangle).

“But we always look at the zero and ‘e heabult’,” says Van Lingen. “We can always wol minsken brûke. Ferkeapers, but also wurknimmers in logistics.”
