This Saturday, King’s Day will be celebrated in Haren with activities, a flea market, music and the fair.

The celebration on King’s Day starts at 10 a.m. with the bells ringing from the tower of the Dorpskerk. There will then be speeches on the Raadshuisplein by a member of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the municipality of Groningen and by the chairman of the Harense Oranjevereniging. Afterwards, the flag with the Orange pennant is hoisted and two verses of the Wilhelmus are sung. The prizes for the coloring competition will also be presented at that time.

Children’s free market

The Kindervrijmarkt is in the center of Haren from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sales are allowed at the following locations: Raadhuisplein, Brinkhorst, Rijksstraatweg between Kerkstraat and Raadhuisplein, and the area around the Dorpskerk in Haren. · The shops are partially open on this day.

In the center there is a tour of various Disney characters, Dweilorkest ‘t Is Ook Niks provides festive cheer, the steel band “Pan Magic” brings visitors to the flea market into a Caribbean atmosphere and a mechanical drum band in clogs drums away happily.

A show by the Historical Cycling Group North on the Rijksstraatweg will take place between 10.45 am and 2.00 pm near the Dorpskerk. Participants cycle as much as possible in clothing that matches the year of their bicycle and create ‘a moving museum on the road’.

There is also barrel organ music by Joris ten Have in the Harense care centers, in the center of Haren and Anjerplein in the afternoon.

The Orange Square in front of the village church opens from 4 p.m. with music from a DJ, food and drinks from food trucks and a bar. In the evening there is the Orange Concert in the Gorecht Church with congregational singing between 8:00 PM and 9:30 PM. That is with the cooperation of the Chr. Fanfare band Juliana from Hoogezand led by conductor Bauke Burghgraef and organist Hans Noordveld from Haren.
