The municipalities of Venlo, Venray, Horst aan de Maas and Bergen will enter into a partnership with Ravenstein Animal Shelter and Maasland Animal Shelter in Oss from May 1, 2024. Over the next ten years, these two organizations will jointly provide shelter for stray animals.

The municipality of Peel en Maas will also join at the end of 2024. Stray animals were previously taken care of in Smakterheide.

From May 1, 2024, Ravenstein Animal Shelter and Maasland Animal Shelter in Oss will take on the task. Under the name Animal Ambulance Limburg-Noord, they are launching a website on which all information can be found about the care of stray animals and the use of animal ambulance in the Limburg North region. The care of wild animals is also arranged. For example, animal emergency assistance is available 24/7 via the emergency center 085 273 8899. An animal ambulance stationed at the Healthoeve animal clinic in Swolgen will provide the area with transport and emergency assistance. The animal ambulance can also be used for taxi rides or to transport your deceased pets to a pet crematorium.
