A young woman (24) was raped in Tilburg during King’s Night. That happened in a dark alley on Korte Tuinstraat, in the middle of the city center. Local residents reported this to Omroep Brabant on Sunday. The case was confirmed by the police on Monday afternoon.
“The victim was very upset and filed a report,” says a police spokesperson. The rape happened around three o’clock on the night of Friday to Saturday.
Nightlife crowd
“Really bizarre,” says a local resident. “A rape in the middle of the city, while the nightlife crowd wanders home.” It allegedly happened on a piece of vacant land in an unlit alley. “While the nightlife crowd returned home just a few dozen meters away.”
According to people in the area, the man had already harassed women earlier in the evening. He would have deliberately chosen the dark place. The police could not confirm this.

The perpetrator was captured on video footage. The police secured it. Video footage allegedly shows how the suspected perpetrator flees. The escape route is mapped out.
“It would concern a light-skinned perpetrator,” says a police spokesperson about the description. According to people in the area, he was also wearing red pants.
The unknown man has not yet been arrested. The police are investigating the neighborhood and calling on witnesses to come forward.
