With the commotion surrounding the intention of the municipality of Nieuwkoop to look for a location for a large AZC together with Kaag en Braassem, it can be read today in De Telegraaf that many more asylum requests are being granted in our country than in neighboring countries.
In France (31.4%), Belgium (44.7%) and Germany (62.6%), the chance of asylum is considerably smaller than in the Netherlands, where 80% of asylum applications are assessed positively.
In our country it is possible to tighten or relax the asylum requirements per nationality. According to the IND, Gülenists (Turkey) and LGBTI people from Russia have a greater chance of a positive result for them. This also applies to Eritreans who want to escape conscription in their country.
Also, due to pressure from the lengthy waiting lists, in many cases no additional research is carried out and the applicant is given a residence permit based on incomplete information.
Outgoing State Secretary Eric van der Burg will change this and simply wants to place the burden of proof on the applicant, which means that if the asylum seeker cannot provide documents that support his or her story, the chance of asylum is significantly reduced.
