Would you like to commemorate the commemoration of death in Groningen on Saturday? Or are you planning to go crazy on Sunday during a liberation event? Then it is useful to know whether you need an umbrella or whether it is better to take sunglasses with you. A tip of the veil: a shower is possible, but it will probably be dry much more often.

Meteorologist Johnny Willemsen from Weeronline gives his forecast: “It is still too early to say very accurately what the weather will be, but at the moment the chance of dry weather is significantly greater than of rain.” Good news for everyone who goes to a liberation festival. For the time being, Johnny thinks it will be between 15 and 20 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday. During the two minutes of silence on Remembrance Day at 8 p.m., the temperature is between 13 and 17 degrees.

Rain or sun

What about Sunday: should you put on your rain boots to a festival? There is indeed a chance that it will rain, Johnny says. According to him, there is still a good 40 percent chance of a reasonably nice day with only an occasional shower. The meteorologist also warns about the sun’s strength at the beginning of May. In the afternoon the sun is so powerful that the skin can burn in 20 to 40 minutes, even if there is a mix of cumulus clouds and sunshine.

First thunder

We may experience thunderstorms in Groningen until the weekend. Tuesday it will be between 20 and 23 degrees and on Wednesday it might even be 25 degrees. A lot warmer than recently. “The humidity is quite high, which can make it oppressively warm, especially on Wednesday,” says Johnny. There is therefore a chance of thunderstorms on both days, especially later in the day. There can also be heavy thunder on Thursday and there is also a good chance of showers on Friday.
