Car company Stifan in Roosendaal went up in flames in January, causing damage of at least one million euros. The fire was deliberately lit, the police suspect. Images of a suspect were shown in Bureau Brabant on Monday evening.
The fire broke out in the night of Tuesday 2 to Wednesday 3 January in the building on Jan Frederik Vlekkestraat in Roosendaal. Not only the property itself should be considered lost. Several cars inside and outside were also destroyed by the fire. According to the safety region, this involved a total of about seventy cars.
The damage to the building alone amounts to one million euros. The owners had been active in the car trade for 25 years.
Sixty firefighters
That night, the fire brigade deployed no less than sixty people and spent hours putting out the fire. Afterwards, only burnt-out car wrecks and a skeleton of the building remained.
Immediately after the fire, the police started an investigation and it soon became clear that the fire did not start on its own. Around ten to three, a scooter rider parks his scooter at the company. He then wanders around the property for a while. And around ten to four he can be seen at the gate of the car company.
Two minutes later he takes off and shortly afterwards the smoke starts to spread.
