FrieslandCampina wants to double its turnover in the United Kingdom within 5 years. This is what UK and Ireland director Will Jones says in an interview with The Grocer magazine. FrieslandCampina has no production in the UK, but mainly exports from the Netherlands and Belgium.

Last year, FrieslandCampina made around €175 million in sales in the UK, Jones reports. That should be at least €350 million. The United Kingdom is therefore not a very large market, but it is a close market where growth can also be achieved, a spokesperson said in an explanation. “We want to show ourselves more there.”

Now FrieslandCampina is mainly known in the UK with brands such as Chocomel and Yazoo, but it also sees good growth opportunities for Tenderlish (Valess) and The Barrista Co, among others. The additional commitment to the British market is accompanied by the relocation of the sales team from an older office to a new building close to London Victoria Station.

Other dairy companies are also looking at the British market with new interest. Our own dairy farming does not produce enough to meet the needs. This makes the British market also interesting for Irish dairy, which has been there for a long time, for Arla and Müller, but also for a company like Fonterra.
