The Efteling amusement park in Kaatsheuvel closed its outdoor attractions on Thursday afternoon due to the expected bad weather. The KNMI has issued a code yellow from five o’clock, where heavy showers may be accompanied by hail and thunder.

Many amusement park goers are now in Efteling because it is the May holiday. They were able to enjoy a summery 26 degrees and lots of sun until the afternoon on Thursday. The nice weather should make way for showers later on Thursday afternoon in many places in Brabant that will dispel the heat.

This is a reason for the amusement park to close roller coasters and other attractions that are not covered. A spokesperson says that around four o’clock this afternoon most attractions will make a final round and then be closed. “If a code yellow is issued, that is the standard procedure.” The spokesperson indicates that the amusement park is busier due to the May holidays.

According to weatherman Johnny Willemsen from Weerplaza, the showers will come from the east from five o’clock. “They are moving west. But the showers are moving very slowly.” According to Willemsen, a lot of precipitation can fall locally and in other places nothing or very little falls.

These showers will move westwards during the evening. Weatherman Willemsen: “It continues to rain occasionally, but they are becoming less intense.” Friday starts cloudy and wet, during the afternoon it becomes drier and sometimes the sun breaks through. At 14 or 15 degrees it is a lot cooler than the past few days.
