There were several advertisements on Marktplaats from people who had put their (free) reservation for the Remembrance Day celebration on Dam Square for sale. The auction site has removed the advertisements in question.

This is what the AD writes. For safety reasons, people who wanted to attend the National Commemoration on Dam Square on Saturday had to register in advance to reserve a place. All places were filled within one day.

Stricter security measures apply this year, because the municipality is afraid that the commemoration will be disrupted by demonstrators. For example, a maximum of 10,000 people are allowed to attend the commemoration on Dam Square, where this is normally an estimated 20,000 people.

Apparently not everyone who made a reservation actually intended to come to the commemoration. On Tuesday, the day on which reservations could be made, several advertisements appeared online on Marktplaats. One of them opted for an auction, hoping to get as much money as possible.

“What a bizarre and disrespectful act that is,” writes former Cidi director Ronny Naftaniel on X.

Visitors who are unable to attend must cancel their reservation so that it becomes available again in the system, the National Committee reports 4 and 5 May.
