Noordscheschut won the away match against Lewenborg 1-2 last Saturday. In the home match, coach Berry Zandink’s team won the beet bridge with a score of 3-4. Sporty revenge was taken in Groningen. The gap to leader Drenthina remains one point.

Noordscheschut was quite battered at the kick-off last Saturday. They were forced to take office without the injured Ton Kamping. Danny Kiekebelt and Damian Smand served a suspension and Kevin van Dalen enjoyed the Turkish sunshine. Noordscheschut knew what it had to do today: win to stay in the wake of leader Drenthina. Noordscheschut shot out of the starting blocks. Enrico Schonewille cut in, but the home team’s keeper made the save. Barely a minute later, Melvin Mol was close to the opening goal, but his attempt from distance went over. For the time being, the home team limited itself only to defending, waiting for a lightning-fast attack.

In the tenth minute, Mees Vos was a toe length short of finishing effectively. After a lightning-fast counter, Wiebe Zinger had to make the save. Noordscheschut warned. After more than fifteen minutes of playing, Noordscheschut received a reward for his work. A beautiful diagonal pass from Mol quickly reached the depth to Enrico Schonewille, who in turn shot calmly into the far corner inside the post. Considering the game pattern, a more than deserved lead. After Zinger had defused a free kick, Noordscheschut created a great opportunity after half an hour of play. The at times inimitable Enrico Schonewille once again rushed past his direct opponent. His cross reached the completely detached Bjorn Schonewille, but from a promising position his header disappeared over. Yet the 0-2 did not take long to arrive. Because a few minutes later the home team’s closing post almost choked on the enthusiastically chasing Enrico Schonewille. He immediately shoved the ball into the feet of Jos Kroezen, who shot the ball into the goal from forty meters with a precise shot (0-3). After this, the Gunners had two more great opportunities for a third goal before half time. But Kevin Koster’s header lacked power and Vos also failed to find the net after good preparatory work by Enrico Schonewille.

Old football law

Noordscheschut wasted no time at the start of the second act. The opportunities are coming together. From a free ball from Mol, Koster headed wide from close range. Enrico Schonewille saw his effort fail on the keeper and Vos’ rebound was blocked in time. Noordscheschut thundered on, tirelessly. A bet from Robin Sikken in the short corner was saved with some effort. A few minutes later, Bjorn Schonewille was the end of a successful attack. Before Schonewille could tap in and free standing, he was knocked out. Miraculously, the otherwise excellent leader refused to award a penalty. An old football law came into effect. If you don’t manage to score yourself, the opponent will. After an hour of play, Tom Katgert brought the tension back into the match out of nowhere, by outwitting Zinger in the far corner (1-2). Barely a minute later the margin was almost two goals again. After a cross from Ramon Brakel, Koster headed towards the ground, but his effort narrowly flew over the crossbar. On the other side, Zinger made an adequate save when an opponent appeared in front of his goal. Despite the fact that the tension was back in the match, Noordscheschut remained the dominant party. But they continued to miss opportunities that were imposed. Bjorn Schonewille missed eye to eye with the keeper, a shot from Mol was saved with some effort and a header from Sikken went over. And it didn’t stop there. A bet from Bjorn Schonewille in the short corner could be turned away, an unprecedented shot from Mol ended up on the outside of the intersection and Vos also failed to find the net twice from a promising position. After Mol once again saw a free ball being turned away and Jesse Steenbergen also failed to find the net, the referee thought it was enough. A well-deserved victory for a Noordscheschut that played well at times. Many opportunities were created, the return can certainly be higher, but a profit is a profit. The gap to leader Drenthina, which itself won with difficulty 2-3 at Wolvega, remains one point. Next week another final for Noordscheschut, then a visit to neighbor Hoogeveen.
