Opening concert of the Limburg Organ Festival in Franciscus Huis

On Friday, June 7, 2024 at 8 p.m., the Franciscus Huis Weert Orgelkring Foundation invites you to the opening concert of the ‘SOL Organ Festival Limburg 2024’. This special event also marks the 10th anniversary of the organ circle.

Tango! Piazzolla!

The program, titled “Tango! Piazzolla!”, promises to be a unique top musical experience. The talented organist, Aart Bergwerff, known from the Grote Kerk in Breda and senior organ teacher at the Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam, will perform together with the Argentinian bandonéonist Santiago Cimadevilla, a world-class bandonéon player.

Together they have put together an extensive and innovative program with numerous surprises such as the world premiere of a new composition. This concert will feature not only works by the Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla, but also pieces by other big names, such as JS Bach, Frederik Sixten, Igor Stravinsky, Maurice Ravel and more. The bandonéon, characteristic of the Argentine tango, will be heard regularly.

In addition to the pieces of music, you can also follow the performances of both musicians on a large screen. An explanation of the compositions by Aart Bergwerff will further enrich the listening pleasure.
