LEIDSCHE RHINE > Ticket sales for the 2024-25 theater season of Podium Hoge Woerd will start on Friday, May 17 at 10 a.m. The program is full of established names, new makers, surprises and young emerging talent. Moreover, 2025 will be a special year, with an anniversary for Podium Hoge Woerd and the Castellum partners Steede and Museum.
Traditionally, the season opens with the PodiumParels. This is a selection of successful performances that will return one more time, including Showmeister (De Volkskrant *****) by Theater Oostpool, starring Jim Bakkum. The well-attended DansDonderdagen series also returns, including introductions. This includes DansClick by Korzo, performances by young dance talent, in which the winner of the BNG Bank Dance Prize will also be given a stage (12 December). The program line What’s going on? offers a selection of performances with a current social theme, including climate, emancipation and AI. In collaboration with Utrecht University, matching UU Talks are programmed to provide the audience with even more context. The youth theater performances take place again during the school holidays, under the names Autumn plays, Winter fare and Spring onions.
Marjan van Huijstee (programmer): “I have done my best to put together a current, contemporary and very varied program. It’s always fun to get a good rhythm into the program and be there on time to bring the best performances to Podium. All programs are worth watching, but if I had to give you a few tips, don’t miss EXIT by Piet van Dycke/Circumstances, a talented young circus maker who has already won numerous prizes. I am also looking forward to cabaret by Tim Fransen, Peter Heerschop and Viggo Waas, Wim Helsen and Merijn Scholten. And perhaps less known, but certainly not to be missed: BRAM from Kompagnie Kistemaker, Niek & Guy with Es-Rever, Dalton Jansen with JAH! and Blauwe Lucht by De Theatertroep. The new season is a special season because we have existed for 10 years. We will of course celebrate this with special extra programs. We will keep details about this a secret for now. With the start of ticket sales in sight, I am very curious to see how people will react to the program.”
