Meteorologist Rico Schröder from Weeronline gives a forecast. Good news for those who want to go out, because it remains dry. Moreover, it is likely to be sunny and the temperature will rise to around 15 degrees on the coast and possibly up to 20 degrees in the southeast of the country.
Dew steps in the morning
Ascension Day is the perfect time for some Groningen residents to celebrate. They get up in the early morning, or even at night, to walk with their bare feet through the dewy grass. Rico about the weather in the early hours: “During the traditional dew kicking in the early morning, the temperature is somewhere between 7 and 11 degrees.”
Rico predicts that the days after Ascension Day will also have pleasant spring weather. “There is no precipitation planned, which means we will actually have a largely dry week, with plenty of room for sunshine.” During the weekend it can reach 23 degrees inland.
Normally on Ascension Day
At the measuring station in De Bilt it has never been tropically warm on Ascension Day. In 1954 it came very close, with 29.2 degrees. This was exceptional, because according to Weeronline it is normally 18.2 degrees at Ascension Day. At the end of May the average temperature is about 3 degrees higher than at the beginning of the month.
