There was a drug lab in a barn that went up in flames in Brabant last week. The police reported this after an investigation. The 51-year-old resident of the adjacent house has been arrested.
The fire raged last Thursday evening in a wooden shed in the Brabant village of Zevenbergschen Hoek. Small explosions could also be heard, writes Omroep Brabant. Ultimately, the fire brigade extinguished the fire.
Large amounts of drugs
Specialists from the National Facility Dismantling, a police team that collects evidence in the event of a possible drug lab, discovered that there was an amphetamine lab in the building.
The police found large quantities of synthetic drugs there. Including 180 kilos of amphetamine paste, but also raw materials for the production of synthetic drugs.
“Where you would expect the fire to raze everything to the ground, a striking number of damaged packages of chemicals still emerged,” the synthetic drugs coordinator at the police told the Brabants Dagblad.
Car moved
Shortly after the fire broke out, the resident moved a car containing two crates full of synthetic drugs. The car and its contents were found in the area by officers.
The resident is brought before the examining magistrate, who determines whether he should remain in custody longer.
