‘This experiment is quite progressive. Using AI in this way is new and experimental. But as an innovation broadcaster, we are happy to take on that challenge,” says editor-in-chief Renzo Veenstra. AI will be used to create ‘simple videos’ for the website and app.

‘We can produce simple videos in a very short time with this AI presenter. These can be a nice addition to our messages. But we also want to respond to the trend in society that young people and people with low literacy prefer to watch videos rather than read stories,” says the editor-in-chief.

In the near future, the broadcaster will experiment and see what works and what doesn’t. Editor-in-chief Veenstra is not afraid that the use of AI will affect the reliability of Omroep Brabant, he says. ‘We clearly state in the video that the presenter was created via AI, but the content of the video and the images are of course real. Moreover, the text and images are composed and written by a flesh-and-blood journalist.’
