Spring is in full swing, which provides the perfect opportunity to get out and about this weekend. For example, score a nice gift for Mother’s Day at the Spring Festival, visit various gardens during the Spring Gardens Weekend or browse around at the Spring Fair. There is plenty to do this weekend. Here we have prepared six tips for you.

Fairy Flowers and Annuals Days

Specialty nursery Tuinggoed Foltz in Meeden on Saturday and Sunday the Fairy Flowers and Annuals Days, where it’s all about fairy flowers (Epimediums) and annual spring and summer bloomers. In recent years, Tuingoed Foltz has increasingly focused on rare shade plants, in particular Epimediums, or fairy flowers.

Guided tours take place on both days in the shade and woodland gardens, the marsh beds and the private garden. Andries Bierling tells everything about the gardens and specific plants in a relaxed manner. The tours start on both Saturday and Sunday at 11:30 AM and 2:30 PM. The garden is open on both days from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Spring garden weekend in Drenthe

Seven departments of Groei & Bloei open their gardens during the Spring Gardens weekend, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday. Throughout Drenthe, 34 gardens are open to the public. A perfect opportunity to see nature come back to life and to enjoy the most beautiful gardens in the province.

Art in the garden house

Jan Wilde, a garden in Westerlee, is open to visitors in May and June. The garden is more than just a place with old trees that provide shade in the summer. This season, five local artists are exhibiting their work in the garden and garden house.

You can enjoy glass art by Sija Brouwer and Corine Deddens, paintings on wood by Piet de Raad, iron objects by Boombaard and felt creations by Gudi Schouten. The garden is also open this weekend from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Spring Fair in the garden

Still looking for a nice gift for Mother’s Day? At the Spring Fair in Bronnegerveen on Saturday you will find a wide selection of plants and everything surrounding them.

From spring flowers and perennials to cuttings and sowings, from woodturning and ceramics to quilts and a plant doctor, you will find it all at the fair. The fair can be visited for free from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the garden of the Traas family at Dorpsstraat 5.

Scents and colors day in Eenrum

Four scent and color days are held at the Arboretum Notoarestoen in Eenrum. This weekend it is time for a concert by Iris Kroes, Jan Kuiper, Yvonne de Hoop and Jan Klug. You are taken on a journey to silence.

In addition to the concert, you can enjoy blooming rhododendrons, a beautiful pond and the veranda terrace at the garden house. The garden is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the concert starts at 2 p.m.

Celebrate the season with the Spring Fair

This weekend it is time again for the Spring Fair in Frederiksoord. This is not just any fair, because the program is full of music and activities. There are workshops, more than 100 exhibitors and there is plenty to do culturally. There is theater and you can enjoy all kinds of music.

Of course it is also possible to relax with a snack and a drink. The fair can be found on Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and on Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm in De Tuinen in Frederiksoord.
