Groningen – Friday morning around 4 a.m. a man reported to the police location on Sontweg in Groningen with the story that he had escaped from his house on the Kaaij just before.

Three men were in there with him and they held him and robbed him. He said he could have freed himself and then came to Sontweg. There he told officers that the men had also taken his car. The victim suffered minor injuries and paramedics took him to hospital for treatment.

The license plate of the stolen car was put in the ANPR and as a result agents found the car near Bedum. When the suspects saw the police car, they fled. In Winsum, the car crashed near the Netlaan. Two men fled from the car and the third suspect was arrested immediately at the car. With the help of thermal images and the deployment of a police dog, officers were able to find and arrest the two in nearby bushes. The three men all come from the city of Groningen and are 33, 37 and 25 years old. They are being held for questioning and the police are investigating the case.
