HILVERSUM

A power outage was reported in large parts of the Gooi on Friday afternoon. People in Hilversum, Huizen and Bussum were without electricity. Liander has now reported that the outage has been resolved.

Reports came from the Media Park in Hilversum, which includes the NOS and RTL, from radio station KINK in Hilversum, from the Singer Museum in Laren and from radio station 100%NL from Naarden. A train passenger reported on Twitter that he was unable to check out due to the power outage. And the Gooi en Vechtstreek safety region received reports of people trapped in elevators. In Naarden the traffic lights did not work for some time.

According to a spokeswoman for network operator Liander, the power outage has already been resolved and only lasted a few minutes. The operator previously referred on Twitter to the national grid operator TenneT. There would be a disturbance in the high-voltage grid. But TenneT said it was not their fault.

The care for patients of Tergooi MC hospital has never been in danger, spokeswoman Marthe Houpt said. “We immediately switched to our emergency power supply in both Blaricum and Hilversum. He takes over immediately in these kinds of calamities. About eighty to ninety percent of all departments then run on the emergency facility. In a few parts of the hospital it will have been a bit darker. Certainly the critical departments such as the operating rooms must of course continue to operate. Fortunately, it is Friday afternoon and the OK program will be completed around this time. We regularly test the emergency power supply. We did that a month ago. We are used to these kinds of scenarios. We are not surprised by that,” it sounds reassuring.

According to the spokeswoman, the emergency room in Hilversum was closed when the power outage broke out because it was too busy. In Blaricum, the emergency room had to close during the power outage because a CT device malfunctioned due to the switch to emergency power.

Liander says it is still investigating where exactly the malfunction came from. About 100,000 households, consumers and businesses were the victims of the short-lived outage.

Comments about the outage are pouring in on Twitter:
