Last episode the Flemish TV program ‘Love for music’ focused on our own Suzan & Freek. Several of the duo’s songs were covered, but one stood head and shoulders above the rest. Clouseau played a very special version of the hit ‘Goud’: in French. That caused both surprise and emotion for Suzan (31) and Freek (31).
In Love for musiccomparable to the Dutch program Dear Singers, famous Flemish people sing each other’s songs. They can also put a different spin on the songs. A literal cover is therefore not a requirement. Sometimes Dutch repertoire is also included, such as this week with the hits of Suzan & Freek.
The artists present Tourist LeMC, Jasper Steverlinck and girl group K3 all tried out the duo’s songs. For example, K3 sang ‘Head in the Clouds’, but did this in its own unique way. Jasper managed to touch Suzan with his version of ‘Weg van Jou’.
Clouseau managed to blow the duo away with their version of ‘Gold’. Clouseau sang in French. Lead singer Koen Wauters and guitarist and backing singer Kris Wauters initially found it quite difficult to determine how to cover the song. They joked: “There are two of you, so are we. You sing in Dutch, so do we. What else do you have to do?” But their version turned out to be a hit. Not only Suzan & Freek, but also the other guests responded enthusiastically.
On X the reactions to Clouseau’s performance are also positive. For example, someone writes: ‘Clouseau in French also sounds good!’ Another viewer said: ‘What a cool version of Clouseau. Best song of the night.’
