It was difficult to sleep last night. It was announced Friday morning that Red Hot Chili Peppers had to cancel their performance in Glasgow that evening due to illness. Since then, the big question has been: will the show on the Sunday evening of Rock Werchter 2022 continue?
The Belgian festival initially hoped to come up with a definitive answer on Friday afternoon, but had to come back to that in the evening: it will take a while. Two sources indicate Saturday that the show will continue.
Dimitri Strobbe, board member at the Antwerp concert venue Ancienne Belgique, indicates that he encountered Peppers drummer Chad Smith. He has assured him: the show will go on. Dimitri was already allowed to tell that news on Studio Brussel, and also posted it on his Twitter account.
A usually well-informed source at the Festileaks Festival Forum also says the lights are green. the user ChiquiteChaser responds: ‘It’s right, they’re playing.’
They remain (only) rumours, but with that it looks good for the passage of the Red Hot Chili Peppers show at Rock Werchter 2022. There may be hope.
