A mobile crane operator got the fright of his life in Enschede on Tuesday. The crane truck tipped backwards while he was in the cabin. He was unharmed and was able to climb out on his own.

The telescopic arm of the crane truck fell on the wall between the KFC and McDonald’s in Enschede-Zuid (Spanish) and partly on the bus lane at the rear of the building. There was no traffic there at that time.
Something goes wrong when removing light boxes
The incident happened while removing KFC light boxes from the facade that needed to be overhauled, a job in which the Haco Light Advertising company, among others, is involved. An operator from Wagenborg Nedlift was in the crane truck.
An employee of Van Hees Reclame, also called in for this job, was in a blue, mobile aerial work platform next to the crane truck at the time of the incident. He too was unharmed.
Cabin hangs in the air
The Wagenborg Nedlift crane stands on its rear wheels, with the cabin raised. The telescopic arm of the crane leans on the roof of the building where KFC and McDonald’s are located.
It is still unclear how the accident could happen. The fast food restaurants are closed indefinitely. The KFC was still closed anyway, it normally opens at 11 a.m.
