Wherever the royal family celebrates King’s Day, Johan Vlemmix is there every year. The Brabant entertainer is perhaps the biggest orange fan in our country and he will also be there on Saturday in Emmen. Completely in Johan Vlemmix style, this is not exactly done inconspicuously. He had the royal carriage recreated, with a built-in toilet. Vlemmix fervently hopes that King Willem-Alexander will make use of it.

“A small or big message? It doesn’t matter,” Vlemmix beams triumphantly.

There is also a practical reason why he now has a carriage with a toilet when King’s Day arrives, he explains. “I have been going to King’s Day the evening before for years. The problem is that you often lose your spot when you have to pee. Now, with the curtains closed, I can also use the royal poop box myself,” he says to Omroep Brabant.

Not only the playful carriage will be on display in Emmen on Saturday, this also applies to a huge wooden horse for the carriage. “He can even move,” the King’s Day enthusiast reveals. Now he just has to hope for a nice spot along the route in Emmen, and he hopes for a little help from Emmen residents. “That would be fantastic,” he says,

But above all, Vlemmix hopes for a royal visit in the royal poop box. When the entertainer opens the carriage door, it is self-explanatory. The toilet is made of an orange chair, with a bucket mounted under the seat. Also orange by the way. A roll of toilet paper and orange drying towel are also part of the basic amenities. “You can sit comfortably there, the lid opens, then the message follows. Then clean your hands and close the lid again. And the message is done.”

Vlemmix can only hope whether anyone from the royal family actually uses the makeshift toilet. In previous years, he said, someone from the Oranje always came by to greet him. And if that is King Willem-Alexander himself, then the Brabander is ready for it.

“When the king comes, I say: if you need to run an errand, that is possible. Everything is ready. A message from the king is always good.”
