PSV did what it had to do on Thursday evening. In Friesland they won by a large margin against SC Heerenveen (0-8). After the match, the people of Eindhoven had to wait and see what Feyenoord would do when they visited Go Ahead Eagles. Because the Rotterdam team won 1-3, the championship celebration will wait until at least next Sunday.

PSV played the possible championship match on Thursday evening like a true champion. It was already clear after 11 minutes that it would depend on Feyenoord losing points.

PSV started stormily and took a 3-0 lead after 11 minutes. Thanks to goals from Guus Til and Malik Tillman (2x), there was no longer any doubt about whether the Eindhoven club would win in Friesland.

Applause from home crowd
For years, PSV has had the greatest possible difficulty with SC Heerenveen. The Frisian club is a real fear monger, but there was no sign of that on Thursday evening. PSV once again showed why it will become champion, especially with so much force majeure.

Before halftime, coach Peter Bosz’s formation had already reached 5-0 thanks to goals from Til and Joey Veerman again. The latter even received applause from the home crowd when he scored the fifth goal and thus also the hundredth competition goal. The Heerenveen fans appreciated that given Veerman’s past in Friesland. It is not even surprising that supporters of an opponent are clapping for PSV. It is phenomenal what PSV showed on Thursday evening and has actually been performing all season.

Eyes focused on Deventer
In the second half it became 6-0 thanks to a great goal from Johan Bakayoko. Twenty minutes before the end it was top scorer Luuk de Jong who scored his goal. The fun was not over yet, as substitute Patrick van Aanholt scored an eighth Eindhoven goal. It remained at 8-0, after which the long wait for the result at Feyenoord could begin.
