Police say that after intensive investigation, investigators determined that the victim slipped and fell. There is no criminal offense whatsoever.

Within the investigation into the girl’s death, the police took ‘different scenarios’ into account. Two 16-year-old boys ran out of the building when the police arrived on Gelderskade on Tuesday and were arrested as suspects.

The police were called shortly before – around 11:45 pm – to report that two boys were forcing the door of a building on Geldersekade. Upon arrival it became clear that a girl had fallen out of the building a little earlier.

Investigation showed that these Amsterdam boys are not suspects in the case. They were released soon after their arrest. The 16-year-old girl was resuscitated and seriously injured and taken to hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Police will not say whether she fell from the roof or out of a window. “Because there is no crime, we will not share more about the case,” said a police spokesperson.

‘Beloved student’

The girl was in the fifth year of pre-university education at the St. Nicolaaslyceum. The school’s students and teachers are “extremely sad and devastated by the loss of a much-loved student due to a tragic accident,” headmaster Hubert Roza said earlier.

The school learned of the incident on Wednesday morning, after which teachers informed the students and all class activities were canceled. On Wednesday afternoon, students had the opportunity to come to school “to share their grief with each other,” Roza said. Professional help was available. According to Roza, about 150 students came to school in the afternoon.
