It has been in the air in recent weeks, but now it is final: Joseph Oosting has signed a new contract with FC Twente. The head coach, who switched from RKC Waalwijk to FC Twente last year, will now remain affiliated with the club from Enschede until the summer of 2027. Oosting is having an excellent season with FC Twente, but due to last Sunday’s defeat against AZ, he still has to do everything he can to hold on to third place.

Oosting guided RKC Waalwijk to an impressive ninth place in the Eredivisie last season. Naturally, this achievement did not go unnoticed. FC Twente struck and brought the coach to Enschede. Oosting faced the tough challenge of succeeding success trainer Ron Jans. FC Twente also said goodbye to a number of strong players, making equaling fifth place in the previous season a major challenge. But nothing is less true. FC Twente has been at the top from the start and has held third place for a while.

This entitles you to participate in the preliminary rounds of the Champions League after 34 matches. FC Twente could have secured third place last Sunday, but lost 2-1 in the important match against AZ. As a result, the difference between the two clubs is only two points in Twente’s favor. With only two rounds to go, it can still be very exciting. FC Twente is not waiting for the final part and, as announced in recent weeks, has broken open Oosting’s contract.

We are impressed by Joseph’s working method. And that doesn’t just have to do with the current position in the rankingssays technical director Arnold Bruggink on the club website. We knew in advance how it works, but in practice it remains to be seen how that works out. His whole approach is appealing. Joseph sets the bar high, is ambitious and in addition to the attention for the team, there is a lot of attention for the development of young players, it sounds praiseworthy. Oosting himself ‘really wanted’ to stay at FC Twente. The club is in full development, we are making progress in many areas. Moreover, I work with great people. That certainly applies to the group of players. They work hard, want to get better every day, and continue to develop every daysaid the trainer.

Oosting was recently briefly linked with a move to Feyenoord, but a successor to Arne Slot was not on the agenda. It is now up to Oosting and his players to end the season in style. FC Twente will receive a visit from FC Volendam on Sunday and will play against PEC Zwolle (away) a week later.
