King Charles will resume some of his appointments and meetings outside the home from next week. In February, the British king temporarily resigned from his public duties after doctors discovered he had cancer.

The British royal family announced on Friday that Charles will resume work in public. It is not yet known whether he will be at the major events in the coming summer, such as the commemoration of D-Day. The royal family has announced that Charles will in any case not be able to attend the full summer program.

The British king has not yet finished his treatment. According to the royal family, it is too early to say how long the king’s recovery will take. It has been announced that doctors are positive about his recovery.

The royal couple say they are grateful for the many “kindnesses and good wishes” they received last year, “in highs and lows”. It’s been almost a year since Charles was crowned king.

First visit to a cancer clinic

The king’s first activity is a symbolic visit to a treatment center for cancer patients. Together with Queen Camilla, he will meet doctors and patients there on Tuesday. It is not about the clinic where Charles himself was treated.

In the statement, the royal family also announced that the British royal couple will receive the Japanese Emperor and Empress in June.

At the beginning of February, the British king announced that he had cancer. The disease was discovered at an early stage and doctors immediately started treatment. It is not known which type of cancer this is. The doctors discovered the disease when the king had prostate surgery.

After the diagnosis, the king temporarily resigned from all his public duties. Charles continued to conduct state affairs and administration, such as consultations with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
