Adam Clayton, the bassist of Irish band U2, has divorced his Brazilian wife Mariana Teixeira de Carvalho. The two married in 2013 and have a daughter together.

They parted as friends, a spokesperson on behalf of the former couple confirms Sunday World. The 64-year-old British-Irish bass guitarist and the 45-year-old lawyer continue to raise their six-year-old daughter Alba together.

Clayton and Teixeira de Carvalho met in Brazil four years before their wedding. They largely kept their private lives out of the public eye. The spokesperson requests on behalf of the two to respect their privacy after the break.

In 1994, Clayton was briefly engaged to English model Naomi Campbell. In addition to his daughter, Clayton also has a son from another relationship.
