It is raining complaints about a problem with WhatsApp, this is what is going on

--

Do you also receive error messages when you want to send a video via WhatsApp? You are certainly not alone. Since Sunday there have been complaints about the problem, which occurs on some Android phones after an update.

Updates are almost like a double-edged sword. Although they often offer you improvements and new features, they sometimes also contain bugs. This time it’s WhatsApp’s turn, with a bug that remarkably only occurs when you send videos to Android phones. Users with an iPhone will therefore probably not experience any problems.

What exactly is it?

Dozens of people on Reddit have said that they are currently unable to send videos via WhatsApp with their Android phones. A pop-up will appear with this text: “Cannot send this video. Choose another video and try again.” Not exactly helpful, because something seems to go wrong with every video.

Other files, such as photos or documents, seem to be sent properly. The problems do not occur on all Android devices.

What is the solution?

While there is no direct solution or trick to fix the problem in WhatsApp itself, you could roll back the app to an earlier version.

Do you want to find out which version your WhatsApp is currently running? To do this, go to Settings > Help and you will see your version number at the top. If this corresponds to version 2.24.9.34, you could consider going back one version, to 2.24.8.85.
