Things are going in the right direction with Vitesse’s crowdfunding campaign. The Arnhem residents reportedly hope to raise an amount of one million euros and have now passed the 500,000 euro mark. Coley Parry, who is keen to take over the club, has also contributed. The American shows proof of this on X, but unlike many others, does not show how much money he has transferred.

Parry would love to become the owner of Vitesse, but his attempted takeover earlier this year was not approved by the KNVB. As a result, the current number eighteen of the Eredivisie, who can no longer avoid relegation due to the enormous points penalty, is still in serious trouble. Earlier this week it was told by the licensing committee that based on the current state of affairs, the license for next season will be revoked in mid-May. Vitesse still has a few weeks to put a stop to this and hopes to raise a large amount with the crowdfunding campaign. That is going in the right direction, now also thanks to the much-discussed Parry.

“Also a contribution from Parry, whose claim of 14.3 million euros still hangs like a shadow over the club, after he was rejected as the new owner of Vitesse through his own actions,” club watcher Jeroen Kapteijns of De Telegraaf writes above the tweet from the American. “As a result, the 10.5 million euros he had put into the club became a loan. In just over a year and a half, that loan of 10.5 million euros resulted in a claim of 14.3 million euros due to an interest of twelve percent and built-in fines. It is one of the most important obstacles in Vitesse’s rescue operation.” Parry is said to employ six lawyers to ‘safeguard’ his business interests. “Vitesse is negotiating with Parry about the claim. If the WHOA procedure is continued, the American will only receive a fraction of his 14.3 million euros.”

If Vitesse goes bankrupt, Parry will not see any money back at all. However, interim general manager Edwin Reijntjes implied during a press conference on Wednesday afternoon that Parry is an obstacle to the salvation of the club. The licensing committee has determined that the club shares, which are still in the hands of the Russian Valeri Oyf due to the failed takeover of Parry, must be transferred to the independent foundation by mid-May at the latest. However, Vitesse is bound by an exclusivity clause that Parry managed to negotiate around the planned takeover, which means that the club cannot freely look for another owner or transfer the shares to the aforementioned foundation.

Vitesse supporters therefore react cynically to Parry’s tweet. “Is there also a penalty clause or high interest attached to this?”, among other things. Some wonder how much money the American has transferred. Parry is also thanked for his contribution. “Thank you, and now we must quickly reach an agreement so that we can move forward,” is the message.
