FC Twente permanently extended the contract of coach Joseph Oosting for two years on Tuesday. As a result, the Emmen resident will be stuck in Enschede until the summer of 2027.

The 52-year-old Oosting announced a week and a half ago that he would extend his contract. Oosting’s old contract with FC Twente ran until mid-2025, with an option for an extra season.

“We are doing well with players and staff and I am far from finished here,” Oosting says on the Twente website. “I really wanted to stay at FC Twente and am proud to work here.”

According to Oosting, FC Twente is in full development. “We are making progress in many areas. Moreover, I work with great people. This certainly applies to the group of players. They work hard, want to get better every day, are still developing every day. We want to reward ourselves with third place in the coming matches. “Everything is now focused on that,” says Oosting

‘His whole way of working is appealing’

A few weeks ago, Oosting was linked to Feyenoord, which is looking for a successor for trainer Arne Slot. Slot is expected to sign for Liverpool soon.

Technical director Arnold Bruggink is happy that he was able to keep Oosting for FC Twente. “We are impressed by Joseph’s working method,” says Bruggink. “And that doesn’t just have to do with the current position in the rankings. We knew in advance how he works, but in practice it remains to be seen how that works out. His whole way of approach is appealing.”

Oosting is only working on his second job as head coach in professional football. He also made a good impression at RKC Waalwijk. He previously served as interim and assistant coach at Vitesse.
