It should not be a crying story, emphasize Hans and Olga Jutstra right at the beginning of the conversation. Daughter Mirthe (18) sits between them on the comfortable lounge sofa of the garden house behind her tasteful parental home in Hoogeveen. She nods in agreement. “I want to talk,” she says. “Not because I ask for pity, but because I hope for real help. To continue living like this is not an option for me. The mental suffering, the voices in my head, it wears me out. I just don’t want to go on like this. That is why I started a euthanasia process.”
