Ajax will not have Jordan Henderson available in the coming weeks. The 33-year-old Englishman has suffered a setback in his recovery from his injury and will miss at least the next three matches.

This was said by coach John van ‘t Schip on Thursday at the press conference leading up to Sunday’s match against PEC Zwolle. So Henderson will not be there in that match anyway.

Henderson will also miss the Classic against Feyenoord in De Kuip, which will be played on April 7. The home game against Go Ahead Eagles (April 4) is also missed by the Englishman.

Henderson suffered his injury in the away match against Sparta (2-2) just before the international break. The 81-time international did report to the English team, but had to miss the international matches against Brazil (0-1 defeat) and Belgium (2-2).

Henderson’s injury is a new setback for the already troubled Ajax. On Tuesday it was announced that club top scorer Brian Brobbey will be sidelined for a number of matches due to a hamstring injury. Moreover, Steven Berghuis has been missing for quite some time.

In addition, Josip Sutalo is not yet fit enough to play against PEC, Van ‘t Schip said on Thursday. The Croat already missed Ajax’s most recent match due to an injury. Ahmetcan Kaplan will be missing in Zwolle on Sunday due to a suspension after his red card against Sparta.
