Dutch international Lize Kop will get a new coach at Leicester City. The English club fired Willie Kirk on Thursday because he violated the code of conduct.

“Following an extensive internal disciplinary process and in respect of the club’s obligations regarding privacy, it has been determined that Willie has breached the team’s code of conduct to an extent that makes his position untenable,” Leicester City said on its own website.

According to British media, an internal investigation was underway due to an alleged relationship between Kirk and a Leicester player.

Kirk, 45, started as coach of Leicester City in November 2022. The Scot previously served briefly as technical director of the women’s branch of the English club.

Assistant Jennifer Foster will assume Kirk’s duties for the time being. Leicester City is ninth in the Women’s Super League.

The 26-year-old Kop switched from Ajax to Leicester City last summer. The goalkeeper, who has played seven international matches so far, was a reserve last month for the Dutch team’s matches for Olympic qualification.
