Billie Eilish is not a fan of the trend of artists releasing as many different versions of their albums as possible on vinyl. The singer says that this is very bad for the environment.

Eilish, who regularly speaks out about the dangers of climate change, spoke with Billboard about sustainability in the music industry and her own career. This discusses the physical release of LPs.

Many major artists, including Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and The Weeknd, are releasing different versions of their albums on vinyl. That should help the artist reach the top spot on the album chart. To compete with each other, more and more artists are participating in this trend.

“I can’t get over how polluting this is,” says Eilish. “It’s happening right in front of us and everyone is getting away with it. As someone who does everything he can to be as sustainable as possible, I find this very frustrating.”

Eilish uses recycled material herself

“Some of the biggest artists make like forty fucking versions in different packages that are all unique just to keep you buying more,” the singer continues. “It’s so wasteful. It bothers me that we still care so much about sales and money. All our favorite artists are doing it.”

The 22-year-old Eilish, known for hits such as bad guy, everything i wanted and What Was I Made For?also released eight versions of her album, released in 2021 Happier Than Ever. Her team used 100 percent recycled material for this.

The singer recently announced that her third album has been completed. The album will be released later this year.
