The rumors surrounding Sven Mislintat made sense: the German will soon be joining Borussia Dortmund. The former director of Ajax’s football affairs will join the Yellow-blacks most likely sporting director.

This is what Florian Plettenberg, journalist, reports Sky Sports. Negotiations had been going on for some time and Mislintat was open to a return from the start. Only formalities remain to be completed, after which the German will sign a long-term contract. He will probably work as sporting director, but there is also a chance that he will become technical director.

The 51-year-old German previously worked for Dortmund for eleven years. He then served in several roles: scout, head scout and technical director. He then went to work at Arsenal and later at VfB Stuttgart. Mislintat was briefly active at Ajax in 2023.

His recent period in Amsterdam ended in disgrace. Mislintat was allowed to determine the technical policy almost alone and attracted twelve players. Many of the players attracted are non-Dutch and to this day hardly make a profit. In addition, the German was accused of a conflict of interest surrounding the transfer of Borna Sosa. Mislintat worked for Ajax for four months.

Ruud Gullit thinks he knows who will be Ajax’s new coach. Youri Mulder agrees with his tablemate at Rondo.
