is surprised by the news that former Ajax director Sven Mislinat is on his way to Borussia Dortmund. The ESPN analyst does not rule out that it is an April Fool’s joke.
An April Fool’s joke is not obvious, because rumors about Mislintat’s return to Dortmund have been going on for some time. On Monday, journalist Florian Plettenberg reported that the final formalities are being completed, after which Mislintat will sign a long-term contract. The director who was dismissed from Ajax can work at the Signal Iduna Park as a sporting or technical director.

“It’s April 1, I heard that Mislintat will become technical director at Dortmund. Doesn’t that scare you?” Perez asks Football talk to fellow analysts Martijn Krabbendam and Willem Vissers. “Today you’re sort of looking through the newspapers to find something that you really can’t believe. I think this was it.”
“But I don’t know for sure, because it remains football,” Perez realizes. “If it’s true, that’s quite special. Firstly, a report is still required on a number of questionable transfers. Apart from that: if you purely look at his results from his period at Ajax, you would think as Dortmund: is this it? But hey, a lot is possible in football.”
Krabbendam does not believe it is a joke. Yet the journalist from Voetbal International sees the humor in it. “No, it must be so. Football is a world of second and third chances. In any case, they did not call Ajax. Oh well, figure it out. It’s also kind of funny.”
