Tottenham Hotspur coach Ange Postecoglou feels robbed by the arbitration after the 2-3 defeat against arch-rival Arsenal. The Australian is especially angry about a moment before the visitors’ 0-2.

Two specific events caused frustration for Postecoglou. In the twentieth minute, Micky van de Ven seemed to make it 1-1, but after minutes of consultation with the VAR, the Dutchman turned out to be offside.

“The matches are no longer refereed in the stadium and the referees no longer have the authority to make decisions,” Postecoglou said afterwards. “I don’t celebrate goals anymore. You have to wait for someone further away,” he referred to the VAR.

Six minutes after Van de Ven’s disallowed goal, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium screamed for a penalty when Dejan Kulusevski was kicked on the heel in Arsenal’s penalty area. Referee Michael Oliver allowed play to continue, after which ‘The Gunners’ counter-attacked and doubled the lead.

“It’s a shame. I don’t like it like this anymore, but you have to accept it.” Despite the defeat, Tottenham Hotspur retains an eye on fourth place, which entitles them to a place in the Champions League at the end of the season. The gap to Aston Villa is seven points, with two games fewer played.
