Father Perez points to Verstappen: “Two tigers in a cage”

--

Max Verstappen has achieved his greatest successes at Red Bull Racing with Sergio Perez at his side. The two teammates have a good bond with each other, but it sometimes causes resentment. Perez’s father describes the collaboration as if it were two tigers in one cage.

Verstappen is the clear leader of the Red Bull Racing team. The Dutchman can become world champion for the fourth season in a row this year, and he hardly seems to have any competitors. Sergio Perez wanted to compete in previous years, but according to Helmut Marko he has adjusted his mindset. Perez has started the season well and he has to, as his contract expires at the end of this year.

The bond between the two Red Bull drivers seems to be good. Perez’s father, Antonio Perez Garibay, knows how to describe the collaboration. Speaking to Azteca Deportes, Perez senior explained: “They are two tigers in the same cage, that’s what I told them. And if you ask me who I would like to see Checo work with, I would say with the best driver in the world. So whatever it is today, Checo is the second best driver in the world in Formula 1. We haven’t seen the best of Checo yet.”
