Ajax is in talks with John van ‘t Schip to discuss his position for the next season. The current trainer of the Amsterdam team seemed to be well on his way to becoming Head of Coaching at the Amsterdam club, but the sixty-year-old coach has indicated that he does not prefer this position.

Van ‘t Schip’s intended position at Ajax would mean that the trainer would have to supervise youth trainers at Sportpark De Toekomst. He would start this after his departure as interim coach at the end of this season. However, Van ‘t Schip himself looks at this differently, because he does not see this role within the club. This means that Ajax and the sixty-year-old coach are now in discussions again to see which position is suitable for the trainer, Voetbal International reported on Monday afternoon.

Van ‘t Schip previously announced that he would not continue as Ajax coach, which also did not seem to be the most likely scenario from the Ajax management. However, the former coach of PEC Zwolle, among others, is still in Amsterdam until the summer of 2025 and has been promised a different role within the club. The coming weeks will reveal which position Van ‘t Schip will take up, but he does not appear to be starting as Head of Coaching.

Sjaak Swart introduces a new name as trainer of Ajax. “I think he is a good trainer, he is certainly a candidate.”
