Vitesse has an agreement with John van den Brom. Sources confirm this to ESPN, after earlier reporting from De Gelderlander. The coach is expected to sign a one-year contract in Arnhem this week. The agreement is concluded on the condition that the club retains the professional license.

It had been in the air for some time that 57-year-old Van den Brom would start working at Vitesse. He has a tough job ahead of him in Arnhem, where there are problems both administratively and sportingly. The professional license is still in danger and Vitesse has already been relegated to the Kitchen Champion Division after an earlier penalty of eighteen negative points.

In Arnhem, Van den Brom takes over from another club icon: Edward Sturing. He in turn succeeded Phillip Cocu earlier this season.

Back at the old nest

Van den Brom returns to the club where he played for twelve years as a player over two periods and where he was in charge as a trainer for a year. After leaving Vitesse, he was at the helm of Anderlecht, AZ, FC Utrecht, KRC Genk, Al-Taawoun and Lech Poznan.
